APS CUTS BUDGET! TAKE ACTION!

Our school district has already prepared the budget for the 2023-2024 school year. A change has been made in the way the district counts our special education students toward the school population. This means that the school has a smaller budget for the next school year for general education teachers, as well our elective teachers for subjects like Art, Music, and Physical Education. Unless the district revises this calculation, our beloved Mrs. Trejo, Ms. Currier, and Coach Fuentes will only be
half-time teachers, and our students will not get the instruction they deserve in these subjects. The other result is that our general education classrooms will be overcrowded when our special education students join their peers for inclusion. Over the long term, this policy will discourage schools from welcoming special education students.

Contact the District!

If you agree that these budget cuts are unfair to our students, contact our school district and let them know! There is a school board meeting on April 5, where you can speak briefly to the board during the public forum:
